Peace Day is a global day of cease-fire and non-violence observed throughout the world on September 21. In 2001, Peace Day received a unanimous resolution from the United Nations. Peace Day is a day for all people to come together in a spirit of hope and possibility, with a unifying spirit of peace and unity.
This special program will include music and dialogue encouraging listeners to connect to their humanity and create opportunities for peaceful connection. On stage, IJ's Artistic Director and Philadelphia Orchestra cellist, Udi Bar-David, will be joined for the first time by Farah Siraj, an acclaimed vocalist from Jordan. Hanna Khoury, Arab-Israeli violinist, Tzvia Wexler, Israeli vocalist, and Hafez El Ali Kotain, a percussionist of Syrian-Venezuelan decent, complete this ensemble.
